Alyssa Polosky Head CoachAlyssa Polosky '11 enters her seventh season as head women's basketball coach in 2025-26. The former Knights' All-American assumed the head coaching role at her alma mater after serving as an assistant coach with the program for seven seasons. She also began serving as the Women's Golf coach in 2022-23.

The 2024-25 season marked a historic postseason run for Polosky and the Knights, winning five straight playoff games to win the Empire 8 Championship and reach the Sweet 16 for the fifth time in program history. The Knights went 24-7 with a 14-2 record in conference during their first year as a member of the Empire 8. Entering the postseason as the No. 2 seed, Geneseo defended home court in the quarterfinals and semifinals, defeating Alfred and St. John Fisher by double digits. After two regular season losses to Brockport, Geneseo traveled to the top-seeded Golden Eagles and punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament with a thrilling 66-63 win. The Knights traveled to No. 15 Catholic University for the first round of the NCAA tournament, and upset the hosts with a 74-63 win. They went on to cruise past Montclair St. in the second round, before falling to the eventual national champion, NYU. Mackenzie Reigle became the 10th player in program history to earn All-American honors, while Kristin Suydam also picked up All-Region honors with Kiley Snow being named First-Team All-Empire 8. The women's basketball program earned the Highest Team GPA Award at the Geneseo Athletics Awards Show, and Reigle was named the Dr. Myrtle Merritt Scholar-Athlete Award winner.

Polosky and the Knights reached the postseason for the 11th-straight season in 2023-24, recording a 19-9 overall record and 12-6 in SUNYAC play. Polosky coached the Knights to a SUNYAC championship game appearance, the program's first since 2019. Kerry Dennin earned First-Team All-SUNYAC honors for her efforts that season, while Kiley Snow was named Second Team. The women's basketball program also earned the Highest Team GPA award at the Geneseo Athletics Awards Show.

The 2022-23 season saw Polosky and the Knights finish 19-8 overall and a 13-5 mark in the conference. Geneseo picked up a home playoff victory in the quarterfinals, before falling to New Paltz in the semifinals. Lauren Romito was named First-Team All-SUNYAC, while Hannah Stockman and Kerry Dennin picked up Third-Team honors. Polosky was named the USBWA Rochester Area Coach of the Year.

After the 2020-21 season was cancelled due to the COVID pandemic, Polosky and the Knights came back in 2021-22 with a 17-10 record, including a 12-6 mark in conference play. The Knights earned nine-straight wins from January 25 to February 18 to clinch a SUNYAC Tournament berth and reached the conference semifinals for the ninth-straight season. Taylor Hansen '23 was named SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year while Hannah Stockman '23 garnered Second Team All-SUNYAC and Mackenzie Reigle '25 earned Third Team All-SUNYAC honors.

In 2019-2020, Polosky and the Knights finished with a 22-5 record, including a 14-4 mark in SUNYAC play. The Knights advanced to the SUNYAC Semifinals, but were stopped short of an eighth-straight SUNYAC Championship berth. Lindsay Halpin '21 and Kerrin Montgomery '21 were each named First-Team All-SUNYAC while Sara Ciotti '20 earned Second Team All-SUNYAC honors.

In her first year leading the Knights, Geneseo finished 24-5 with a 15-3 mark in conference play, advancing to the SUNYAC finals for the seventh-consecutive season. The Knights earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament where they defeated Vassar, 74-55, in the first round before falling to defending national champion Amherst, 58-46. Lindsay Halpin '21 and McKenna Brooks '19 were named First Team All-SUNYAC and Natalie Alfieri '21 grabbed second team honors. Brooks nabbed a D3hoops.com All-Region selection as well.

During Polosky's tenure as an assistant coach, Geneseo enjoyed six 20-win seasons, including a program record 28-2 mark in 2016-17, two SUNYAC Championships and a pair of trips to the "Sweet 16" in four total NCAA Tournament appearances.

Polosky helped mentor three All-Americans, including first-team selection Shannon McGinnis '16 who became the first player in program history to eclipse 1,000 career rebounds (1,011) while also finishing third with 1,473 career points. Allison McKenna '16 and McKenna Brooks '19 also copped Honorable Mention All-America in 2016 and 2018, respectively, under Polosky's guidance.

Polosky capped her playing career with Honorable Mention All-America honors in 2011 after captaining the Knights to a SUNYAC Championship. Also tabbed a first-team All-SUNYAC and second-team All-ECAC honoree, Polosky set a program record with 106 career blocked shots during her two year stint in Blue and White.

Polosky earned a degree in elementary and special education from Geneseo after completing an associate's degree in liberal arts with a concentration in elementary education from SUNY Broome in 2010.

Polosky also finished a master's degree in education at Geneseo in 2014 while serving as a high school and middle school reading specialist in the nearby Avon Central School district.

A native of Endicott, N.Y., Polosky currently resides in Rochester, N.Y.
